Welcome to Our NHS Referral Service
At Soyombo Soyombo Dental Specialists MK, we are proud to support the NHS by providing specialist dental care to patients referred by NHS general dental practitioners (GDPs) who fit certain strict criteria. We accept referrals for a range of specialist services.
Who Can Refer?
Only registered dental professionals (GDPs) can refer NHS patients to our practice. We are unable to accept self-referrals for NHS treatment. The criteria ensure that your referring dentist carries out all routine general services as our services are limited to only certain level 3 services.
Our NHS Services
We currently accept NHS referrals for:
- Endodontics
- Periodontics
- Oral Surgery (Complex Extractions)
- Restorative Dentistry (where applicable)
All NHS referrals are subject to NHS eligibility and capacity.
How to Refer
All NHS referrals to Soyombo Soyombo Dental Specialists MK must be submitted exclusively through the official NHS dental referral portal:

Important Notes:
- Include recent radiographs where possible.
- Provide detailed clinical notes and patient history.
- Urgent cases should be clearly marked as such.
What Happens Next
Once a referral is received, our clinical team will review it.
- If accepted, the patient will be contacted directly for an appointment.
- The referring dentist will receive an outcome report after treatment.

- They will receive specialist care under NHS guidelines.
- Appointments are subject to NHS availability.
- Missed appointments without notice may affect eligibility.
Referral Eligibility Criteria
At Soyombo Soyombo Dental Specialists MK, we provide NHS treatment for cases that require specialist dental care, as outlined by NHS referral guidelines.
We accept NHS referrals for:
- Endodontics (e.g. complex or re-treatment root canal cases)
- Periodontics (e.g. moderate to severe gum disease requiring specialist input)
- Oral Surgery (e.g. impacted teeth, complex extractions)
- Restorative Dentistry (for cases beyond routine general care)
Please note: We do not offer routine dental services such as check-ups, fillings, or hygiene under NHS referral. These must be managed by the patient’s general dental practitioner.
Each referral is assessed individually, and acceptance is subject to NHS criteria, capacity, and clinical necessity.
Urgent vs Routine Referrals
We prioritise urgent referrals where clinically appropriate, while continuing to support routine cases.
Urgent referrals may include:
- Rapidly progressing infections
- Suspected dental abscesses requiring surgical intervention
- Complicated or failed endodontic cases with acute symptoms
Routine referrals may include:
- Non-urgent root canal re-treatments
- Chronic periodontal issues
- Prosthodontic consultations (where applicable)
Please clearly indicate the urgency of the case on your referral form and include supporting clinical notes or radiographs where possible.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Can patients refer themselves for NHS specialist treatment?
- No. NHS specialist dental care must be arranged through a referral from a registered dental or medical professional.
- Is there a cost to the patient for NHS treatment?
- If eligible for NHS dental services, the patient will pay the standard NHS Band charges, unless they are exempt. Private treatment options will be discussed if NHS capacity is unavailable.
- Can the referring dentist choose which specialist sees the patient?
- Where possible, we will accommodate preferences based on clinical need. All referrals are triaged by our team to ensure the most suitable specialist is assigned.
- What happens after the patient completes treatment?
- Once specialist care is completed, we send a detailed report to the referring practitioner, and the patient returns to their regular dentist for ongoing care.
